The Eidos Node is a discrete locus of cognitive energy situated within the Eidos plane. It serves as the planar anchor and energetic reflection of a sapient being's consciousness. In the cultural lexicon of lowly developed dimensions, the Eidos Node is the underlying metaphysical phenomenon that inhabitants colloquially refer to as the soul.
Almost every sapient creature in Cluster Alpha possesses an Eidos Node, tethered to a biological Eidos Interface in the Matera plane. The node acts as the primary endpoint for Eidos Interfacing, allowing the host to transmit, receive, and manipulate cognitive data across the planar boundary.
Planar Position and Movement
An Eidos Node exists exclusively within the Eidos plane, but its spatial coordinates are strictly bound to its physical anchor. The Node moves in perfect synchronicity with the biological Eidos Interface of its host.
Because the Node's position is tied to the physical body, the distance between two Nodes in the Eidos plane directly mirrors the physical distance between their hosts in the Matera plane. Proximity is the primary factor in unamplified interfacing; the closer two Nodes are, the higher the signal fidelity and the lower the cognitive load required to establish a connection. Dense Matera-plane matter and extreme physical distances degrade the resonance, requiring Planar Tension Catalysts and Tenax to bridge the gap.
The Principle of Planar Isomorphism
The relationship between a biological Eidos Interface (the physical brain) and its corresponding Eidos Node functions as a strict mathematical bijection. During the lifespan of the host, there is a perfect one-to-one mapping between the physical neural architecture and the Node's energy structure in the Eidos plane.
Because the two structures are isomorphic, they exist in a state of continuous mutual reflection. Altering one inherently and proportionally alters the other.
Isomorphic Feedback
The bijection creates a closed feedback loop between the Matera and Eidos planes:

Physical to Psychic: Structural damage to the biological brain (trauma, disease, or natural decay) directly distorts the geometry of the Eidos Node. A fractured physical mind produces a fractured Node, resulting in degraded signal fidelity, involuntary ambient reception, or loss of cognitive bandwidth.

Psychic to Physical: Forcing the Eidos Node to process excessive Noemata or subjecting it to hostile structural modification causes immediate physical consequences in the brain. The biological substrate must physically rewire itself to accommodate the new Node geometry, leading to capillary rupture, synaptic cascade degradation, or permanent neurochemical alteration (see Pathos Bleed).
State of the Bijection
The bijection is strictly maintained only while the biological substrate is viable.

Living State: The Node and the brain are actively mapped to one another. The Interface translates biological electrochemical states into Eidos resonance, and vice versa.

Severance (Death): When the biological Interface decays, the mapping collapses. The Eidos Node becomes an unmapped, orphaned structure in the Eidos plane. It retains its geometric shape but loses its anchor to the Matera plane, rendering it incapable of biological translation. Position of the Node remains the same as at the wielder's death. Through time the node slowly decays until it finally completely dissolves into the Eidos.
