The subplane of Ergo governing potential energy, molecular binding, and chemical states. It deals with the latent energy stored within the atomic and molecular structures of matter.
Properties
Potentia manipulates the bonds that hold matter together and the energy released or absorbed when those bonds change. Mages drawing from Potentia interact with the chemical and atomic potential of existing materials. It strictly governs the energy states of matter; it cannot transmute elements or create physical mass, but it can accelerate, decelerate, or violently disrupt chemical reactions.
Applications
-
Catalysis and Inhibition: Instantly accelerating chemical reactions (such as rapid oxidation, combustion, or decay) or completely halting them (preserving food, neutralizing acids, or stopping combustion).
-
Material Alteration: Shifting the molecular potential of objects to temporarily alter their physical properties, such as making stone brittle as glass or wood as dense and unyielding as iron.
-
Latent Energy Release: Forcing the sudden release of stored chemical or atomic potential, resulting in localized explosive bursts or intense, focused exothermic reactions.
