Ark the Tyrant gave the most of the loyal families of the Ikor Arcane Catalysts and taught them the basics of the Arcane Magic which led to Ikor experimenting with it collecting some knowledge about usage of it.
After the Virian Cataclysm most of the Catalysts were lost to most of the families and spread along all of the Arial, left only with legends and myths about powerful artifacts that once made their clans great making big effort to return them, mostly without a success.
There were only a few thousands of them all over the Arial and even less were found. Despite the power Catalysts could potentially give their user most of it would be hidden as part of the family treasure just to pass it through generations since not much knowledge about magic itself was preserved and their value bring some malicious people trying to take them away making it very problematic making it a public thing. All of this makes those artifacts mythical and legendary.
