📖Drakai

The drake race produced by a DI or ID chromosome pair. Drakai are the mixed expression of the Draconic template and the Ikoric chromosome. They are commonly called dragonborn in regions where their draconic ancestry is obvious and their full Dragon traits remain latent.

Appearance and Anatomy

Base: Drake

  • Lean and upright: Drakai usually stand around 1.8-2.4m. Their frames mix draconic scale with Ikoric slenderness.

  • Scales: Their scales are thinner and smoother than those of a Dragon, often arranged in refined patterns along the shoulders, spine and forearms.

  • Head: Their faces are shorter than those of pure Dragons. Many Drakai retain mirrored or patterned pupils inherited from the Ikoric chromosome.

  • Third eye: The parietal eye is present and usually sensitive to planar residue, strong memory and charged places.

  • Horns: Horns are present, usually short and swept back.

  • Tail: They have long, expressive tails used for balance and signaling.

  • Wings: Some Drakai have small wing membranes. True flight remains rare, though strong individuals can glide short distances.

  • Cold-blooded: They regulate body temperature through external warmth and shade.

  • Lifespan: In good conditions they can live 200-400 years.

Character Tendencies

  • Studious: Drakai often gravitate toward record keeping, ritual study, artifact lore and planar observation.

  • Eidos-sensitive: The Ikoric chromosome gives many Drakai an unusual sensitivity to Eidos currents, strong memories and emotionally charged places.

  • Proud: They frequently claim descent from ancient Dragons and guard their family histories carefully.

  • Adaptable: Drakai can serve as diplomats, scholars, scouts or geometer assistants where their draconic resilience and Ikoric quickness both have value.

  • Courtly or solitary: Some Drakai live alone for study. Others form small courts and lineage circles around respected elders.

Magic and Senses

Drakai usually lack the raw power of a Dragon. Many still learn geometer patterns and read planar traces with unusual ease. Some become resonators or geometer assistants when their Eidos connection is strong enough.

Reproduction

The DI or ID pair produces Drakai. A Dragon, Drakai or Drakash parent with an Ikor or Ikor-blooded partner is the most common source of the chromosome combination. Drakai can also appear rarely from other drake and Ikoric lineages when the chromosomes align.
Drakai reproduce through egg laying. The egg is usually carried briefly in the womb and laid in a protected clutch site.
