📖Proto-Arialian

Proto-Arialian

Proto-Arialian was a constructed linguistic protocol engineered by the morphogen Ark during the Pre-Cataclysmic Era (Before 0 AC). It served as the administrative and doctrinal language of the early kor populations, designed to transmit commands, logistical data, and theological law with maximum precision and minimal ambiguity.

Overview

Proto-Arialian was na deliberately engineered communication system. Ark designed it as the "command-line interface" of his tripartite workforce, optimizing it for:

  • Absolute clarity in hierarchical command structures

  • Zero tolerance for metaphorical ambiguity

  • Efficient transmission of complex logistical and doctrinal information

  • Neurological compatibility with the engineered kor cognitive architecture

The language was imposed on the early Ikor, Shakor, and Garont populations as part of Ark's broader system of functional specialization. It was integrated into their neurological predispositions, allowing rapid acquisition of the rigid syntax.

Linguistic Characteristics

Syntax and Structure

Proto-Arialian featured an extremely rigid Subject-Verb-Object (SVO) structure with no tolerance for inversion or stylistic variation. The syntax mirrored the Tripartite Archonate:

  • Subject = The authority issuing the command

  • Verb = The action to be performed

  • Object = The recipient or target of the action

Example structure:

*"The Architect commands the Weaver to bind the Lattice."*

There were no passive constructions, no conditional clauses, and no subjunctive moods. Every statement was a direct, unambiguous declaration of fact or command.

Hierarchical Honorifics

The language featured seven distinct levels of address, corresponding to the rigid hierarchy of the Rightful Path:
1. Architect-level (reserved for Ark himself)
2. Keystone-level (the Kayros and supreme rulers)
3. Pillar-level (caste leaders and high magistrates)
4. Weaver-level (skilled Ikor practitioners)
5. Guardian-level (Shakor commanders)
6. Builder-level (Garont foremen)
7. Servant-level (common laborers and sord)

Each level required specific grammatical markers, verb conjugations, and vocabulary choices. A Weaver could not address a Guardian using Guardian-level honorifics without committing a grammatical (and therefore theological) error.

Vocabulary

The lexicon was deliberately limited and precise:

  • No metaphors: Abstract concepts were expressed through concrete, physical terminology

  • No synonyms: Each concept had exactly one word, eliminating ambiguity

  • Theological integration: Every technical term was embedded with Rightful Path doctrine (e.g., "to calculate" was literally "to weave the thought of the Architect")

  • No emotional vocabulary: Feelings were expressed as physical states or functional conditions (e.g., "fear" = "the vessel anticipates fracture")

Example Texts

The First Command (Pre-Cataclysmic Era)

The following is a reconstructed fragment of Proto-Arialian from the Pre-Cataclysmic era, demonstrating the rigid syntax and theological integration:

"The Architect wills. The Weaver shall bind the Lattice. The Guardian shall hold the border. The Builder shall lay the stone. To deviate is to invite the Chaos. To obey is to sustain the Arch."

Note the complete absence of:

  • Conditional language ("if," "might," "perhaps")

  • Emotional appeals or motivation

  • Metaphorical elaboration

  • Any acknowledgment of individual agency

The Verse of the Sacred Spark (Original Form)

The earliest known version of the Verse of the Sacred Spark in Proto-Arialian would have been structured as follows:

"I shaped the Arkana from the friction of the Lattice. I gave them to the worthy. The Arkana are the echo of My thought. They hold the weight of the Arch. The pure shall wield them. The impure shall be rejected. To covet is to fracture. To obey is to endure."

The original term Arkana (plural of Arkan) was a direct derivation of Ark's name, literally meaning "fragments of the Architect's will."

Evolution and Degradation

The Cataclysmic Rupture (0 AC)

The Virian Cataclysm shattered the institutional infrastructure required to maintain Proto-Arialian's rigid structure. With the sudden death of 90% of the population and the collapse of the Pre-Cataclysmic educational and administrative apparatus, the language immediately began to fracture.

The Drift into Tarosish (0 AC – ~850 AC)

During the dark centuries following the Cataclysm, the surviving populations, traumatized and isolated, could no longer sustain the complex honorific system or the precise theological vocabulary.

  • The seven-level honorific system degraded.

  • The precise theological vocabulary was replaced with more general terms.

  • The prohibition on metaphor broke down as survivors used poetic language to process the trauma of the Cataclysm.

Codification by the Tarosian Kingdom (~850 AC onwards)

When Kayros united the tribes and founded the Tarosian Kingdom, the language had already evolved into early Tarosish. The newly formed state, seeking to project an image of unbroken divine continuity, attempted to "restore" the language to its Pre-Cataclysmic purity.

However, they were largely unsuccessful. High Tarosian codified the degraded version of the language, locking in the reduced three-level honorific system and the shifted vocabulary, effectively freezing the "drift" in place for the central empire while the Outskirter dialects continued to evolve naturally.

Thematic Significance

Proto-Arialian represents the most pervasive and insidious layer of Ark's control. While the Rightful Path controlled their theology, and the caste system controlled their labor, Proto-Arialian controlled their thought itself.

The language was designed to make certain concepts literally unthinkable:

  • Individual agency (no grammatical structure for personal choice)

  • Emotional complexity (no vocabulary for nuanced feelings)

  • Metaphorical reasoning (no tolerance for ambiguity)

  • Equality (honorifics made hierarchical thought grammatically mandatory)

The fact that the Outskirter cultures now use descendant dialects of this language to articulate their rebellion, express their love, and conceptualize freedom is a profound irony. They have taken the Architect's command-line interface and turned it into a living, breathing language of liberation.

They did not reject Proto-Arialian. They subverted it.

AIR Classification

The AIR classifies Proto-Arialian as a Constructed Administrative Protocol (CAP), distinguishing it from naturally evolving languages. AIR linguists note that its rigid structure and lack of ambiguity make it exceptionally easy to translate into other administrative or technical languages, though its theological integration requires careful contextual interpretation.

The AIR maintains a complete reconstruction of Proto-Arialian grammar and vocabulary for research purposes, though it is not used in field operations. Modern Tarosish dialects are used for all practical communication.
