📖Eidos Entity

A seemingly sentient creature that exists in the Eidos plane exclusively without a permanent Matera body.

Origin

Belief

A collective belief in something makes their Eidos nodes to resonate therefore creating an entity. The more and the harder people believe in something the more clear the entity becomes.

The Nature of Manifestation

The entities are emergent resonance patterns within the Eidos plane, sustained entirely by the synchronized Eidos nodes of their believers. They only know what their believers know, and can only act in ways consistent with what their believers believe they can do. If belief in them fades, they literally dissolve.

Therefore, their "manifestation" in the Matera plane is a spectrum of psychological and planar influence, ranging from subtle intuition to catastrophic, reality-bending events.

The Spectrum of Manifestation

The Subtle Whisper

The Entity resonates with the Eidos nodes of its believers, creating subtle psychological effects interpreted as divine guidance.

  • Dreams and Visions: A Garont miner dreams of a glowing ember showing where to dig. An Aspectist seer sees the "threads" of the Sky-Weaver in a fever dream.

  • Emotional Surges: In a moment of despair, a believer feels an inexplicable surge of warmth (Hearth-Keeper) or cold determination (Chain-Breaker).

  • Intuitive Insights: A Shakor commander suddenly "knows" the enemy's next move.

  • Coincidence: A lost traveler stumbles upon a hidden hearth exactly when they were about to give up.

The Entity amplifies the believer's own subconscious processing, making it a why for skeptics to dismiss it as psychology, while believers see it as proof of Ark's love.

The Shared Resonance

When a large group of believers experiences intense, synchronized emotion, their Eidos nodes resonate in unison, temporarily "thickening" the Entity, collective emotional energy of the believers temporarily amplifying the Eidos-Matera intersection.

  • Mass Shared Dreams: An entire Aspectist clan dreams the same prophetic dream on the same night.

  • Emotional Contagion: A Tarosian army charging into battle feels a collective, unnatural surge of righteous fury.

  • Localized Phenomena: In Northern Arial, during an auroral storm, believers literally see the "threads" of the Sky-Weaver connecting them to their ancestors.

The Channeling

A highly trained Resonator can voluntarily open their Eidos node to the entity, allowing it to "speak" or "act" through them.

  • The Oracle: An Aspectist Seer falls into a trance and speaks with the voice of the Sky-Weaver.

  • The Avatar: A Tarosian High Shaman temporarily channels Ark, his mirrored eyes glowing as he delivers a terrifying judgment.

The Cost: The Resonator's mind is not built to process the Entity's consciousness. They risk severe Ego Bleed, identity fragmentation, or permanent psychological damage. Many Oracles go mad after a few years.

The Full Manifestation (Extremely Rare, Cataclysmic)

Only occurs under extreme conditions: massive, synchronized belief combined with a strong natural Eidos-Matera intersection (auroral storms, vicinity of a Mega Catalysts).

  • The Echo: The Entity projects a semi-physical "echo" into the Matera plane—a shimmering, translucent form of light and emotional resonance.

  • The Miracle: A single, reality-bending event: a plague lifts, a frozen river thaws, a dying army is reinforced by "ghosts."

The Cost: The Entity burns through a massive amount of its own "substance" (the collective belief that sustains it). After such an event, the Entity may be "weak" for years, and believers may feel a strange emptiness, as if their god has abandoned them.

The Dark Truth

The entities are reflections of belief. They are reflections of what their believers need them to be in most cases.

Examples:

  • Ark Free is cruel and controlling because the Tarosians need him to justify their caste system and slavery and keep the order they see as the only way.

  • Ark Free is liberating and chaotic because the Outskirters need him to justify their survival and rejection of order that was built for generations.

The Entities seem to do not care about their believers as their sapience in general is under a question. They are parasites on belief. They encourage whatever beliefs make them stronger despite the consequences for the material world.
